So far, I've read Horus Rising, False Gods, and about half of A Thousand Sons. I'm trying to read the books in chronological order, although I think I may already have screwed that up. By essential, I mean the books that tell the core story of the Heresy and are, preferably, well written.
HORUS HERESY NOVELS REVIEW SERIES
My plan is to read just the essential books of the Horus Heresy series, because the series is so damn huge. I've recently started listening to the Horus Heresy series on Audible and reading the Black Legion books on, uh, paper. So, I'm a long-time fan of the 40K universe (as in, I started playing in 2nd edition), but I've really not read Black Library books. What are the essential novels in the Horus Heresy series?
